January Stated Meeting

Celebrating Robert Burns

Gray Lodge celebrated the birthday month of Brother Robert Burns.   We have a close association with the famous brother Burns as our 2nd Master was also named Robert Burns, presumably in his honor.

Our own brother Scott Hardin, a direct descendant of Robert Burns shared many very interesting details about his famous ancestor and his Masonic affiliations.   It was a treat to watch Scott’s two little girls mesmerized by their daddy at the podium.

Also presenting was Jack Hume, a celebrated lecturer on the life and works of Robert Burns.   Jack recited several of Burn’s poems, that stirred us all with his thespian delivery and own mild Scottish brogue.  Jack was a surprise special guest, and a recognized expert on Robert Burns. He has given lectures around the world on the man and his work.   We are grateful for his gracious help.

The stewards meal was excellent as usual a gave a nod to our Scottish brothers – “Haggis a la Forno’s”   The haggis however kept that distinct “Forno’s” Italian flare.

 Remembering David Addison

A moving memorial was conducted for our beloved brother Addison.    Our Funeral Master delivered the appropriate sections of the Samuel Cantey Masonic service.   David Addison was laid to rest last month.
